That doesn't mean he likes you as more than a friend. Maybe he let you hold his hand without realizing it and then once he realized what he was doing, he pulled away. Ask him. Don't get your hopes up, though.

It means you should discuss the situation with him, sharing your relationship hopes and needs and listening to his, instead of playing "handsies." Be an adult.

If you want him to continue being your friend, I'd back off. They's a lot of other guy's. Unless you want all gay friends and no straight friends, you got to learn when to hold them and when to fold them.
