A secular religion is a contradiction in itself. I do think a secular set of ethical standards could be something beneficial to society. It is essential to keep religious beliefs out of politics. On the other hand, a society should be capable of a degree of tolerance that allows religions to exist, because they do cater to spiritual needs that many people have. There should also be mutual respect between different religions, which most sane religious leaders who are not fundamentalist, do exercise.

isn't the term secular religion an oxymoron?
-
i think that it would be a good idea for secular religion to replace theological religion if something based in logic and human compassion and ethics could be agreed upon. then we would not have to worry about having conflicting beliefs that could not be proven or disproven.
-
i can see how you could perceive that to be a contradiction, though in the dictionary the definition does not require theological religion. Either way, the terminology is not really what is important about the question.

Secular religeon is a set of Rules, made to work similar to the algarythmic priciples that control our economy. They are flawed at best and have directed the true meaning of religeon. Religeon is a trend type of deal now and will need to change for our planet to survive. To be connected to God is much more than the Bible stories you hear in Sunday School. In fact studies show that adults who regularly went to sunday school are more likely to develope metal illnesses or addictive habbits/. God did not literally create the Earth in 7 days, he imagined it for 7 days before the tables were put in motion. I personally found God without the secular church and feel comfortable going to a secular church now. I interpret the word in a different light from all the other members; I don't even think the Pastor gets it. Just me but, the real version is much better and more powerful than the fairytail(secular propeganda)version of Religeon.

I think it already has. Not everyone subscribes to it, but a fair bit of the population does.
