The whole time-out thing is a joke. Been there done that tried that, you have to keep running after them when they won't sit in place. Then it turns into a game for them. I had problems with discipling my daughter because she got so spoiled during her hospital stays so we could keep her calm. Taking away things didn't seem to help because she would help me (talk about reverse psychology). I finally just had to sit her down and tell her what I expected of her and if she could do that then we would decide on a reward for her good behavior. When she had bad behavior I would ignore it because giving her any attention to the bad behavior reinforced what she wanted. Things are going a lot better these days. But the occasional spanking on the rear when they are just out of control spastic tantrum, I don't disagree with. Snaps them out of the fit and gives them a minute to register what just happened and the tantrum usually goes away. But spanking a child for every little thing is not right.
