In missouri high school baseball does the catchers mask have to be a 1 piece or can it be the old school type of a backwards helmet and a facemask?

It appears that the Missouri State High School Activities Association plays under the National Federation of High Schools (FED) rules. FED rules require the catcher to wear a mask/helmet combination offering double ear protection or a hockey style helmet. A catchers helmet or mask/helmet combination must be NOCSAE approved. The old school type backwards helmet and facemask are not NOCSAE approved since they cannot be tested together as a unit. Also, it does not provide the required double ear protection. "Old school" is not legal under "new school" FED rules.
