I recently copied a new movie from dvd to a blank vhs tape. I had no problem, but now I can't transfer it back from vhs to a blank dvd. Keep getting the copyrighted material message.

most combo's will not copy from internal vcr to a dvd - I must connect a external vcr to do this on mine

Most devices have no in-built protections to stop you from copying a video from a higher definition to a lower definition (ie. DVD to VHS) but will prevent you from copying to the same definition or higher (ie. VHS to VHS or VHS to DVD). Hope this helps.
