If the father paid for the car then the old owner has no right. The courts will have to be involved most likely. Talk to a lawyer asap. Not a good idea to speak with the guy trying to claim the car, but if someone must then he should be made to understand that he can't get paid for sale of an item and still keep the item, no matter who dies.
