I would say they would be uncomfortable, and possibly zoned out like a deer in headlights... by the way I know some LDS who use beer for other things than violating their bodies... like cooking and some hobby crafts. Kinda takes away the "loaded" part of the question... lol

Well it certainly depends on the "Mormon," and the "you."
1. Maybe they just don't like you and would pretend like they don't see you even if they were buying roses from the florist.
2. Maybe they feel guilty, because they are bound to an addiction they knew well enough to avoid.
3. Maybe they are hoping no one will recognize them because:
a. they don't want to ruin their reputation.
b. they are buying the beer for other than obvious reasons and don't want to explain it
c. they are buying the beer for someone else and don't want to ruin that persons reputation
d. they don't want to have to invite extra people to the kegger they are throwing

With those reasons in mind, it is also important to clarify two things about this question, since the asker thought he was educating people via the Socratic method:
1. Mormons do not generally buy anything at the liquor store, leastwise beer.
2. Mormons who do buy beer at the liquor store do not generally avoid people they know and meet there. If you are their friend and they drink you very likely already know they drink.
