It depends on the importance of the issue. If it's something that really makes a difference to you or someone else, either morally or practically then I would say stick to your point - but firmly, assertively, without losing your temper. Just say your piece and make it clear that you are not about to change your mind. No need to fight about it. But in a situation where it's relatively trivial, then you can afford to smile, say that you don't agree and leave it at that.
