  • I've seen estimates of one or two centuries to terraform Mars. This is, of course, highly speculative and nobody is confident that it could actually be done. It is scientifically plausible, however.
  • Yes and no ... we have some chemical engineering know how that we could use to build huge machines that turn crushed rock into air and water, while we mine ... but what we still lack is the broad knowledge of building planetary scale ecosystems.
