This is a public forum. The whole point is to talk to the general public and get responses from them.

Yes, I do think there should be privacy in the questions and answers by us. At least we should be able to select some questions and answers which we don't want others to see.

I would never use the private profile option. I don't see it as a big deal, so no. Just my opinion.

It sounds like you want it to be like Myspace. Just dont put information on there, that you wouldnt care for anyone to know, you can always put your Myspace link on your profile page, and set that to private.

What would the purpose of a private profile be..That would be totally meaningless. Just don't make one if you don't want people to know a little about you.

I think I'm fine with the public profile. As long as I don't post too much information about myself, I should be fine.

Makes no difference to me, but unless and until they do, I would not put too much personal information in your profile. I was on Y/A for a long time and had everything set to private, but the trolls just search for you by name to find Q&A you've posted so they can keep DRing and sending false abuse reports. The most persistent trolls seem to find their way around any kind of blocks. I'd just make sure if this keeps going on, to keep in touch with AB staff or a CL to make sure they are on top of it.

No, please no. They already have that on Y!A and I think it has created more problems then it solved. This is a community site, isn't it? It would stop being that if people could hide all their acitivity. What you would have in the end is cliques, no longer a community. I like AB because it is totally different from Y!A. Let's please keep it that way.

What's the point of having a profile if it's kept to private? This is an online community where people share and ask for random information of all kinds, and should be regarded as such and nothing more. It's not a place to disclose your private life and whatnot. The profile exists in order to let the others know a little bit about you and see what kinda person you are, but it's not like you have to disclose all this super personal information about yourself, or post nude pics of you. Isn't if for just slight reference? I don't WANT to hear about your sexual infatuations or activity, I don't want your credit card number or know how much you weigh. If I want to know, I'll ask. I'm also of the mind that most people who want a private profile are the ones who want the most attention, and I don't know about you, but I can respect someone's desire for privacy. I sure as hell won't ask to be anyone's friend or be let in the profile if you really want it private. See where I'm going here? Most chances are, they want people to ask. Because otherwise, I honestly don't see the point. Just don't post anything that can be used against you in any dangerous way, online or off, and if you're afraid of trolls, your profile is open and everyone can see it, there's not much they can go spread around since everyone already knows it. :/

What good would making your questions in your profile PRIVATE be? They would still be out in on AB somewhere. AND, they are still easily searchable by Google. For example, want to see YOUR questions? In Google, search for "answerbag <your username - with quotes if there are spaces)". VOILA... Your questions. I'd not use it, and know few people who would. The idea is to create a database of questions and answers. Allowing users to set theirs to PRIVATE, so they wouldn't appear in their profile (are they not to appear in AB if they are set that way?) is a waste of code and processing time. Just be careful about the questions you ask and answer. ;-)
