  • My mom did not allow any garbage cans in the house; even in the kitchen. All garbage had to be taken directly to the trash in the garage. Now that I'm an adult with my own house, I have a trash can in most places you'd expect. Um, except in my home office...hmmmm.
  • My mother, who is an obssessive compulsive cleaner (seriously. their house is more of a showplace than a home. Growing up with my mother was stressful), wouldn't let us in the kitchen to get something to eat except at scheduled times. And I mean SCHEDULED. It was posted on the fridge. If you missed your open window of time, tough shit because she's already cleaning an already clean kitchen for the 3rd time. Us kids loved it when my mom went out of town and we were just with my dad. Those were the times we realized how the rest of the world lived. We only ran the dishwasher once a day instead of 3 or 4 times, we left (gasp) a glass in the sink just to see what it felt like, etc.
  • My mother used to send me to bed when she was tired. "It's time for bed, because I'm tired" she would say.
  • My mom still to this day is particular about making beds; she always made me make my bed soon as I got up in th morning like it couldn't wait until after breakfast.
  • i couldn't go outside bare foot - i still have weak souls
