  • Yes they can, if the other fish are small enough. Goldfish are not natural predators but they are greedy greedy fish and will try and eat anything they can get in their mouths.
  • I agree with nitanitro. My brother had a small minnow-like fish in the same tank as 3-4 inch goldfish, and the poor thing was always chased around since the bigger fish tried to eat it. Goldfish think anything that can fit in their mouth is food.
  • I had 2 Goldfish. Well actually I bought them for my children. One of them began to eat the other's fins. This process took place until the "finless little man" couldn't stay upright. I had to make a decision. Allow this to conclude or end it,...so..I..(my ex is still pissed) because ...Well, let me just say that now..."He sleeps with the..You know the rest.
  • YEs...
  • Can they eat other fish? No. Will they try? YES!! My fantail goldfish tried to eat my cory catfish ( about 1" long). I had to hold the goldfish in my hand and pull the catfish out of its mouth. The catfish was all the way in, I could barely grab its tail. Don't know yet if the catfish will live, but the goldfish seems to be fine.
  • Yes. I have several goldfish and two turtles (separate tanks). I bought more feeder fish for my turtles than I wanted to give them at one time, so I put part in the tank with my goldfish. My largest goldfish ate all 10 feeder fish that I put in the tank within two days.
  • Yes i put a smal 2inch fish in the tank last night and a small shark and couldnt find them this morning. Thats a shame as they are very gready and eat anything that can fit in there mouth !
  • bahahahaha
  • Only if their memory lasts long enough to remember they want to eat another fish!
  • can other fish eat goldfish food?
  • We brought three large goldfish in from our outdoor pond last winter, had them in a large aquarium with a small catfish and a black tetra. They were fine together. When we put the goldfish back out for the summer, we got a few smaller fish and wouldn't you know, the catfish ate them along with the black tetra it had wintered with!
  • Goldfish are pigs...they will eat just about anything. Some fish are really specific about what they will eat--not goldfish!!
  • YES THEY WILL EAT OTHER FISH IF IT IS SMALL ENOUGH I GOT 3 SMALL TETRA FOR MY KIDS AND GUSS WHAT NEXT MONING NO FISH!! BUT I FOUND A FIN FROM ONE.
  • Yes! I had 12 fish bigger then a gold fish and the gold fish killed and began to eat all of them. I named him AngerManagement.
  • yes they can. and they will. I had 7 little 2 inchers in there and 2 bigger ones at about 13cm. at first one goldfish starting eating the tail of the bigger one, so i moved him out. then another fish started eating the tail, so i moved him out. and this continued until i now only have 3 fish left. So 4 of them were eating it. Now i have a cat fish and that one has been eating it too. its always the same big fish getting picked on. Its also not a matter of "if they remember they were eating another fish" cause they will chase it around the tank for a while and when ever the big one swims past again, the little one will attack. The big fish's tail is now all ripped to shreds and in tiny streamers. Its dieing also, has I think the gas bubble disease, so my boyfriend is going to kill it tonight. its suffered enough. But at least all other little fish can go back in the tank, theyve been reassigned to little bowls around the house
  • i have two big gold fish(3-4 inch)...and bring in 5 tetra(1&1/2 inch)....and within few days smaller one start disappearing...which start with fins....first i did not understand and thought there might be some chemicals which are killing them...but later saw big one chasing around the tank...so decided to have some more gold fish. i thought gold fish will not eat goldfish...but i was wrong...and once again the count start decreasing...i guess i have to be happy with these two gold fish...or have to leave them in pond to have lots of smaller colorful fishes..
  • One of my goldfish has just disappeared and im trying to work out if hes the goldfish equivalent of Houdini or if the other one just ate him. Only thing is that he was bigger than the other fish so i don't see how mystery still unsolved
  • Yes. They can eat sharks, piranhas and humpback whales
  • i am having the same problem my black skirt tetras seem to be okay and my cory cat anything else i have put in there has dissapeared i have found that they attack at night when i am sleeping only to wake to another count and realizing one or two is missing until i find a small portion of flesh lying on the bottom my goldfish are about 6-7 inches in length i love my goldfish but i like to have some variety and im starting to realize im stuck with these two huge fish who poop like crazy
  • Yes, larger fish commonly eat smaller fish or chew on parts of other fish.
  • Too right they can! I bought three yesterday for my outside water feature to go with a lone 10 shabunkin.By 3 0'clock today all gone!
  • If it will fit into it's mouth then it will eat it.
  • I had 4 fish 3 died so I had one left for along time, I got 2 more smaller then the one I had, brought them home put them in the tank went back to check on them and one was missing within 2hrs. I hope the other doesn't come up gone.
