  • It depends on where you live: in North America, yes, in Africa, no. And in some areas, such as Africa, you are more likely to find women with HIV / AIDS, rather than men. However, homosexual self-identification by men in certain regions is under-reported, because of social and cultural stigma against homosexuality. Current statistics on HIV / AIDS indicate: - About two-thirds of the people with HIV / AIDS, worldwide, live in Sub-Saharan Africa. The worldwide distribution of HIV / AIDS sufferers is: 64% Sub-Saharan Africa, 18% South and Southeast Asia, 4% Latin America, 4% Eastern Europe and Central Asia, 3% East Asia, 3% North America, 2% Western and Central Europe, 1% North Africa and Middle East, and <1% Oceania. - The infected population, world-wide, is comprised of 49% men, 45% women, and 5% children. - In Sub-Saharan Africa, where HIV/AIDS is spread predominately through heterosexual activity, the distribution is 40% men, 52% women, and 8% children. In the Caribbean it is: 49% men, 46% women, 5% children. These regions are offset by the male / female / child distribution elsewhere in the world (East Asia: 77% men, 22% women, 1% children; South and Southeast Asia: 70% men, 28% women, 2% children; Eastern Europe, Central Asia: 65% men, 34% women, 1% children; Latin America: 64% men, 34% women, 2% children). - The percentage of the infected who are women (all ages) ranges from 58% in Sub-Saharan Africa to 25% in North America. • Not at all. Hate to inform, but most with HIV tend to be married men representing themselves as bi. There are high incidents among promiscuous male gays, but that is the exception. In fact most single gays are like single straights. They simply sit at home since they can't find any one. And most gays that do are in monogamous relationships. I'm gay and find I have had far fewer partners than most 20 year old girls or men. And I'm 46.
