No idea. The only para I know is the para para, which is this Japanese dance. Sorry, that wasn't very helpful, was it?

As far as I can tell, the word para has to do with mobility, as in paramedic (they get places fast), parachute (gets you to the ground), paramilitary (fast and mobile military unit). I can't account for words like paranormal or paradox. there is most likely more than one meaning.
