Not if you are going there with the intent to seek converts, It is illegal to proselytize in Israel.

Glenn, it depends on your definition of "missionary," because Glenn is right about the laws against proselytizing in Israel. "Bearing witness" to one's faith is not illegal and I assume all people of faith do that to some extent. "Mission" is a word rooted in the word, "sent," and in that sense, a missionary of any theistic faith is a person "sent" by God for whatever purpose God deems appropriate. According to the Hebrew scriptures as interpreted by me <smile>, Israel IS a missionary nation, sent by God with a specific purpose in the world.

I hope not although they are gaining some respect there at the moment. The amount of tourists and money that they send to Israel can no longer be ignored. I think it is the height of religious bad manners to go and expect to convert the Jews however.

Proselytizing is illegal in Israel. Many Christian organizations have representatives there, but overt evangelizing is not legal.

No. The missionaries may think it is as they are one step further to saving the Jews from Armaggedon but they are more likely to end up in jail.
