  • Warming up and stretching are too different things. You want to do some light aerobic exercise to warm up your muscles before you stretch or start more a more aerobic acivity. This is to warm your muscles before stretching or overloading them, which is what you do when you strength train. The idea is to lengthen your muscles and you want to do that properly as it works by tearing and repairing, however if you do this without warm muscles you will injure yourself in a way that will not repair itself in 48 hours.
  • The warm-up allows blood to start flowing to the muscles that are going to need easy access to the blood during the workout.
