As far as USB, I haven't found a way. But, you can upload 20 second mp3 clips to a website and then download those to your phone as a ringtone. For FREE! http://www.funformobile.com/pages/ringtone/uploadRingtone.php

1. Open the song in an audio editor, Nero has a good one but there are also free utilities available. 2. Cut the song down to 30 seconds or less. 3. Save the 30 second clip in .ac3 format to the desktop and close the program used to edit the clip. 4. Find the file on your desktop and change the file extension to .3g2 (This is the format that video clips are saved as on your phone) 5. You will have to name the file according to the naming scheme for video on your phone (on my phone it is SSPX0024.3g2 0024 can be changed according to the files you have) 6. Connect the phone to the computer. 7. Upload the file to the media folder on your phone. 8. Disconnect the phone from the computer. 9. Open your "Pictures" menu and go to "My Albums" 10. The file music will have a red X on it. 11. Select the file and go to options, from there you can choose to use it as a ringer. Hope this helps.

usually with samsung, songs cannot be in mp3 format to use as a ringtone. before you transfer them to your phone, change the file extention from mp3 to 3gp. ex. (uncheck hide file extention) in file folder before transferring you'll see songname.mp3 click 'rename' and change to songname.3gp then transfer. It'll play as a song and a ringtone, you'll see the file turn solid instead of gray. (it may be 3pg i always forget, try that if 3gp doesn't work.)
