  • They are only as trustworthy as they are immune to court orders. If they have kept any record of the IP addresses and times of access on their site, those can be matched up with the anonymous browsing service's IPs and times of access on sites the government doesn't want you on. The only forseeable ways to avoid this is to find a service that doesn't retain any information or is located in another country. Even using one in another country may not be enough since many willingly force this information out of site owners in the spirit of cooperation with the U.S. There are some countries that wouldn't force the site operators to share the information. I still wouldn't feel completely safe if they retained records, though, because everything has a price and attitudes change.
