  • It's 100% your call how you choose to identify yourself. And you don't even have to do that much if you don't want to. Just check "other" or leave it blank if you like.
  • Well, our current president is 12.5% (1/8) black, 37.5% (3/8) Arab, and 50% white. He calls himself "a black man," although I'm sure he does that for political effect. When I was a kid, we would have called him an octoroon (1/8 Negro). But really it depends on who is doing the "considering" more than on anything else. . But to answer your question, yes, you could honestly check the Pacific Islander box. Or the white box. Minorities (i.e., non-whites) get preference and special consideration.
  • I have looked for an answer to this one and cannot find a set number. Actually, I have found NO documented number. I know there was some "one drop rule" for black blood but, even there, I cannot find a solid percentage. I am leaving this answer to ask you and other answerers to drop me a comment if they know. I have three pureblooded Rromani Gypsy grandparents and one white grandparent. I think I fit squarely in the Rromani Gypsy category. Check whatever you wish. I check "other" because my ethnicity is never listed. Why do you want to click one over another? If you are looking for perks for being a minority, that really is not a good reason. Also, I do not believe that Pacific Islander falls under any quota. Only very select minority groups get any benefit from such things.
