To be saved is to have received the Holy Spirt upon accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior. Nothing else is required except to live your life as an example of His love before others. The following are taken from the "Spirit Filled Life Bible" to show the work of the Holy Spirit in Salvation. *Brings conviction. (John 16:8-11) *Regenerates the beleiver. (Titus 3:5) *Sanctifies the beleiver. (2Thess. 2:13) *Completely indwells the beleiver. (John 14:17;Romans 8:9-11) When we have received Salvation we are instructed to be Baptized in water as Jesus was by John the Baptist.

This seems to be a question of terminology. Some call believing on the name of Jesus recieving Him, and draw no distinction between the words. You will not find the phrase recieve the Lord Jesus in the KJV. That is just someone's own words, or paraphrase for the Bible. You will however many times see believe on the name... In some folks minds the words mean the very same thing. In Ephesians 2:8 the Apostle Paul talks of salvation as a free gift. A gift must be recieved, or it is not a gift, but just something that was bought for another person. Until they accept it, it is not really a gift. To recieve Salvation is to accept the gift that Jesus bought for you with His own blood, and then the Holy Spirit will indwell your heart. You accept the gift by believing on His Holy name( or basically to believe Jesus was here, was killed for our sins, buried, and rose from the grave 3 days later) confessing Him publicly with your mouth, and repenting of your sins, and asking forgiveness from Him. That is what is required of a man for Salvation.
