That sounds pretty lame. I imagine the last thing a teenage girl needs at a time like that is her parents to know all about it.

well if they are under the age of say 15 then yeah they should be since they are legally responsible for them , but over that age its going a little to far

I completely support parents being notified when their teenager is having an operation. Why should an abortion be any different?

My daughters going to be 16 in May & thank God we have the kind of relationship where I know she would come to me for help BUT alot of teens can't. What if the parents are pro life? I think that alot of girls might have illegal abortions so their parents wouldn't find out & it could kill them. So I'm against parents having to give permission

I don't think there is anything inherently wrong about a law that requires parental notification when a child seeks an abortion so long as the law also provides the child with a reasonable and timely procedure which would enable her to judicially bypass the parental notification requirement. There are many valid reasons why a daughter would not want her parents involved in her decision to terminate a pregnancy. The most significant would entail a situation wherein the child is the victim of incest and the pregnancy is the result of incest. Under those circumstances, the incestuous parent should not have veto power over the child's decision to terminate an unwanted pregnancy.
