  • Because they have boring and ordinary features and to put it in industry terms: 'They ain't got it' One's personality and charisma show through in film and a plain Jane or a dull Danny just don't have the flair for the camera and they look like people who accidentally got in the way of the shot instead of those who were the intended targets of the camera.

  • It comes down to makeup and precise lighting.I had worked behind the scenes in TV and movies and even the actors/actresses that are ordinary looking in real life look more photogenic on film.

  • I have often wondered the same thing. I have always thought my pictures don't do me justice. I suppose it has to do with lighting, the particular camera and of course the face.
  • Faces aren't necessarilly photogenic - people and their personalities are. I've taken pictures of lots of people, and the "good" photographs don't need to be of beautiful, attractive, visually-pleasing people. It's a matter of how comfortable someone is in front of a camera. If someone doesn't like having their picture taken, they generally won't photograph well, so they won't be photogenic. So what makes faces photogenic? Comfort. What makes them non-photogenic? Awkwardness. Here are some pictures of people I think are *very* photogenic.
