Question

Help answer this question below.

I have medium colored skin and whenever I get a cut or scrape after the wound has healed I'm left with a dark mark on my skin. I've tried vitamin E and it has not worked. What is it and how can I get rid of these ugly marks?

I have the same problem and i found that the best tretmemt is target brand scar remover cream 9$. it will lighten the mark in 2 weeks if you use it after you wash your face orning and night. the only probliem is that it might make the skin around the spot lighter as well. So use a toner and Ambi fade cream all over your face to even the tone. Trust me on this one it really works.

    Good luck

If you are brave and can stand pain, a good dermatologist can give you a chemical peel, maybe two over several months. Also it is pricey, BUT, many insurers will cover the cost if is associated with an injury. Call them and ask. Insurers now cover the cost of acne scarring, and most people are not aware of that. You just have to call your insurance company or look in your benefits book (some are online) to see. Some require the doctor to write a letter saying you need the peel. I have not had one, but have seen folks who have. The process is painful and kinda gruesome. Acid is painted on your face and literally destroys the top layer. Once you face has healed (two weeks or so), you look fantastic. No wrinkles, smooth skin...and depending on how dark the marks are, they will be gone also. If they are not, the doctor will advise you to do it again. Far less drastic is simple skin bleach you can buy at the drugstore. It will lighten some...just maybe not as much as you want. Your skin is telling you something. Maybe it is telling you that you're deficient or compromised in some area of your health. Maybe vitamin K, or perhaps you have an underlying condition, for example people with autoimmune diseases don't heal like normal folks do. Consider the bigger picture as you try to solve this minor problem. Good luck!

I'm the same, but vitamen E has worked okay for me, but it doesn't make it fade away completely. You just have to wait it out, unfortunately.

My son has this same problem. Unfortunately it is your skins way of scarring. Although those dark marks do fade after awhile. Some of the marks my son has had lasted for several years before fading away. Be patient and hopefully your condition will not be any different and try not to get hurt. :)

Use nothing but cocoa butter. Palmer's cocoa butter. In the morning when you wake up and at night before you go to bed.
