  • Not sure what you're looking for, exactly, but... actually, in North America, there is an area referred to as the "Mid-West".
  • In USA, the term far west is also used. Since it is a vast land, such division was necessary for ease of describing some less known locations. America is a newly discovered territory. In the traditionally known world regions, east occupies a much larger area than the west. Hence the need to distinguish east by names middle east and far east. In terms of ethnological identification also, that that division is justified. The middle east consists of caucasian race people. The far east consists of mongoloid people. In the entire west, there is only one race which belongs to the same traditional and linguistic group. Hence there was no need to have the term middle west within Europe.
