It's normal... Belly button rings have issues stretching sometimes... if the pain is very minimal... you are ok. If it starts to hurt really bad and it becomes seriously red... then worry.

Use sea salt soaks for 10 minutes every day. and clean the jewelery with rubbing alcohol once a week. I have had mine for 4 years as well, I will pump it up and down while in the shower everyday and I don't have any funk. and dont wear tight pants that rub against it as this can cause soreness. And use some vaseline to help it slide in easier and will protect the inside from getting the funk which is just dead skin cells mixed with water and it is trying to become infected. Just keep it clean.
