What do you think of Microsoft's proposed bid for Yahoo? Is Microsoft now an aging giant, or do they now have the tools required to have an outside chance at competing with Google?

Why should what yahoo had for years suddenly have more impact on google now than before? They are wasting a shitload of money on that buy and it can't be worth THAT much.

That's a really good question and thought! I hope Yahoo does not sell. They are both good for different reasons. It reminds me of the AT&T and Southwestern Bell buy out. Now AT&T has bought cingular too? It's all about monopolizing the market. making money. Personally I like to have choices and like to be able to shop around for good deals. If one company owns everything.....they can charge whatever they want.

I wonder if it's some kind of show. I mean, what is stopping any of them from competing heavily in each other's markets? .. .. Since reading David Kaplan's the Silicon Boys I've become mighty suspicious of that corporate culture and transactions (and in corporate culture and transactions in general).
