  • It all depends. If another member asked a congratulatory about the same member before you did then it would be considered a duplicate question and would be flagged as such. It also could have been flagged by one of the freakin trolls who seem to hate congratulations questions and if the flag was accepted by the staff more than likely it was because a question mark was missing or it wasn't asked in the form of a question or some other bs like that.
  • [Nonsense] Not sure if AB admins will aprove it.
  • I think congratulatory questions get flagged when that category is abused with a lot of petty, Micky Mouse kinds of things that tend to clog up the system.
  • Duplicate, Nonsense, or Spam/Offensive. I think there's a fine line between Nonsense and Spam/Offensive. I'm not even clear myself but once you know the question, it could be easier.
  • Other Congratulatory questions do not get flagged although I have noticed some being Down Rated recently. I do not see why some should be rejected and others gain hundreds of points. Maybe it is time for the staff to put up the Bulletin board as was suggested about two months ago when the moderating debate was going on.
  • When I read the questions in your comment to Alanpro777 answer, I can very well understand this. 1) The first question: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/568275 is supposed to congratulate an user for making Guru. But actually, it is making fun about the whole thing by asking people to send him nude pictures of themselves. If you look at the answers and comments, you will notice that the "congratulated" user never gave an answer on that question or a comment on any of its answers. I suppose the reason was that he did not appreciate the joke, and I can understand this very well. So either he flagged the question himself or something else who fand also that it was bad taste. 2) The second question: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/424991 This one is just asking openly for points. This is again the Answerbag policy. So it should be flagged. 3) Both questions were asked by the same users, who probably finds that congratulation questions are a bad thing, as they usually appear on AB, and wanted to point at this. (my guess) I think that congratulation questions are a very good thing to give an occasion to celebrate the success of an user. The only problem, in my opinion, is the lot of points that most askers receive for those questions. It could be somewhat disproportional to their merit at pointing at this. Maybe a point limit should be set for this kind of questions. Maybe also for the answers. Anyway, a user who would be asking all the time this kind of question would probably get a bad image by many people, even if this user still get points.
  • I put one out a while back and forgot to put a question mark in it...flagged. That was so unnecessary.
  • If it is not a question it is nonsense. For example "Mate just made maestro, congrats mate" thats not a question and hence nonsense.
  • It's really easy to flag a question. All you gotta do is push the button. Anyone can do it. That's why I think if we're going to go as far as to have Community Leaders, we should have designated moderators too.
