I love to give my nieces Barbie dolls, although it seems like a rather old fashioned custom. Teen these days want cell phone and I-pods and all kinds of techno junk.

If they have an ipod - I would suggest an itunes gift card. You could also consider a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure.

This is the "spenders" age group!!! All that my 14 y/o neice knows is Pastries (tennis shoe brand) and Ed Hardy (clothing line)! Good luck!

Since postage is so expensive, and you're shipping it so far away, go with something light-weight -- maybe a journal or some stationery, a book she'd enjoy with a cute bookmark, a small make-up set, or a CD of her favorite music (maybe even one you burn yourself), would be a nice gift for your friend. Or, send her a USA T-shirt. Inexpensive, and lightweight to mail.

Breakout, the new CD by Miley Cyrus...seems to be a hit with those around that age.
