How to determine if the heater motor relay switch, or the actual heater motor itself is at fault. ? the car is a 1987 toyota cressida the fan has stopped working.

    If it were my car I would hard-wire the motor to the battery (no fuse, direct) You don't have to remove the fan to do it just use a piece of wire from the positive terminal to one wire and touch the second wire to ground (on the body of the interior). If the fan is good it should come on.
