If I am alone with someone I would prefer to sit across from them so I can see them when we talk.

I like to sit across the table so I can see the expressions on their face. My husband always wants to sit beside me and it just isn't that comfortable always turning to him when we are having a conversation.

Across the table is much better. I feel uncomfortable with someone right next to me, and I find it difficult to engage them in conversation if I can't make easy eye contact.

Across from. No need to crowd up together unless there are more than 2 of us. If I want to get close, I'll wait till we get home.

Across when we're at a booth because I can lie down if they get boring.

If it's my sweetie I'm with, we sit next to each other. If it's a friend, we sit across from each other so we can see each other while we're talking. Sweetie and I talk at home; we like to get in a little snuggle or two when we're "out on the town". *SMILES*
