  • I believe RobinHood is a fictional vigilante. They're not really outlaws, in my opinion, because they actually try to rectify injustices in the system. But they should also be cautious in the sense that they could become the very evil that they're fighting.
  • Vigilantes are dangerous. What might start off with good intentions can easily lead to disaster. Without a body of regulation and accountability, what's to stop the vigilante from abusing his/her position and becoming bullies, overlords or just a glorified gang? The judicial system may be lacking in places, but it's damn site better than free-beatings and lynching.
  • It not so much the ends as the means used to get there. In some cases the end justifies the means but not always.
  • Now how did I know you would be the one to ask this:)...lol:) I'm all for them rounding up the child molesters and have at 'em. Sorry I am still out of points for you:(
  • I live in a neighborhood that used to be run by the Mafia. It was peaceful. Not much violence and very few rental properties back in the day. Now it sucks. Nobody's in charge. If you have a problem, you have to rely on Police. There not always around. They have their agendas too. A few "goodfellas" go to jail. The neighborhood goes to shit.
  • I think it can be bad because they could get a God like complex and start judging people. It is better to have 12 people debate something throughly than one person decide by theirself. Of course it a child is hurt and the parent or grand parent knows for sure what happens, I can see how they might do something that one time. I am not saying its right but I understand it and might do it myself if it was my grand child.
  • so long as they don't over step the mark and only take on case at a time and don't start to think they can run rough shot over everyone .... thats what the cops are for :):) p.s. you have mail!
  • I think they are very bad. The slope you walk on is very slippery. If you start with the most cut and dry case of guilty it seems fine. The next on is almost as bad so thats fine too. Sooner or later "Justice" has no control. Have you ever angred someone without meaning too? You could be next. Good question +s
  • Let's see. Let's say I had a psycho gf (It's certainly possible, I've had them before). And let's say this psycho gf got mad at me about something I said. Well, she then hires a vigilante and tells him that I raped her or something. He then finds me and he kills me. People have to be innocent until proven guilty or else the lines of justice become more and more blurry.
  • i believe that vigilantes are neither good nor evil, they are people that fill in the holes in the law and 'take care' of the scum that the police and officals seem to continuely miss over and over again. So to answer your question, they might not b a good thing but they are a neccessary thing we require
  • Vigilantes are not doing their job for purely altruistic reasons, sooner or later they will turn on the community that allowed them to grow in number and strength. Most of them are involved in criminality of some type and are answerable to no one. They do not operate within any laws and therefore can do what they want. A society where punishment beatings, knee-cappings and bombs placed under cars is acceptable is what you are agreeing to.
  • i tend to agree if the laws doing nothing and its serious
  • The court system is there for a reason. The enforcement personnel are there for a reason also. Put yourself in the position of someone framed for murder. Would you perfer an amatuer acting on emotion be your judge, jury and executioner, or would you prefer to be represented by a professional lawyer in a court presided over by an experienced judge before a jury of your peers who had no stake in the outcome of your trial?
  • So long as they make damned sure that whom they're going after really is guilty. I've seen good men die for nothing.
  • i agree with you, but i think others disagree because of reasons like "they're doing the goverments job" or "they take it too far and kill people" (to be fair, some do, but most dont)
  • as sometimes they take it too far, sometimes the courts get it right and people can't accept it. vigilantes and capital punishment are very similar in this respect. if you get it 100% right, and it's not over the top then i am all for it, but how often does this happen?
  • "How can they be bad?" When they've got the wrong "criminal". Even the current justice system makes mistakes, and there are innocent people in jail, doing time for something they never did. (That's not to say they aren't guilty of something else, but ...) DNA has exonerated a number of people, including some on Death Row. Vigilantes seldom CARE if the person is REALLY guilty or not.
