  • We are having little effect over there now. It's like cleaning a counter with a dirty rag. We invaded the country on false premises and we can no more solve a civil war there than we can in any African country. I think an ordered, well-planned exite strategy is the best we can do unless we plan to occupy the country indefinitely.

  • Just like Bill Clinton said he'd bring home the troops from Bosnia in a year, (we're still there) I don't think Obama will will bring the troops home in 2009. The current plan is to start downsizing our presence there. Maybe that's the fig leaf he'll hide behind.
