The Australian federal government will formally say sorry to members of the "stolen generation" of Aborigines when parliament resumes in Canberra next month. Is this a good idea IYO? Will it lead to massive compensation claims?

no its not a good idea at all and yes it will lead to claims ... after all arn't we doing the same things now in QLD & N.T. and its for the same reasons ...the kids welfare ?.. so what in another 70 years are we going to have to go through it all again

i think it is a good idea and i hope compensation claims come up. minorities have suffered too much, even in their own native lands. although getting money will never "fix" what happened to one's people, considering the squalid conditions that Aborigines live in, it is greatly needed. but i think the Aussie government should not just leave it at an apology and money, they should actively improve the lives of the Aborigines by intergrating them more into society and providing them with resources to better themselves as a whole.
