Question

Help answer this question below.

I had my head gasket blown on my 1994 GMC truck. It is very expensive to fix. The truck has 140,000 miles on it but it usually runs well. Is there any reasonable expectations that this repair will allow the truck to run a couple more years?

    Probably.

Assuming that the head gasket is the ONLY thing wrong, it will easily run until something else breaks. Unless you flog nine types of dog-piss out of it,the head gasket should last another 100K at least.

If the engine was SERIOUSLY overheated though, then there may be other damage, most likely warpage. Any competent garage should be able to tell.
