Anyone know the real reason why the merger between Sirius and XM radio is taking so long?

I didn't even hear about it at all! I didn't renew my Sirius this year because I just can't afford it, and I miss it. I would like some of the stuff on XM, though. Well, actually I just wanted to hear Ellen's show on XM, but I don't know if she still does it.
