Why couldnt the bike stand up on its own?

It is top heavy. the centre of gravity is too high. This is because of the handlebars, and the fact that the frame is heavy and held off the ground by wheels which are lighter and only toch the ground with a small surface area. Possible solutions: really wide whheels or stabilisers.
