A reverend i know has most of it memorised
-
I think so. Especially in the past, when there were fewer copies around. People in the days before the net and other forms of information storage, had prodigious memories. Monks, nuns and lay people used to put the Bible to memory. I personally know two little old ladies who have the entire New Testament memorised in Italian (they are illiterate and learnt it from tapes). For a long while, we didn't have the Old Testament on tape for them, but they have that now. However, since they are both centenarians, I think that the OT will not be memorised as well as the New was. NOt enough time left. They will have to learn it from Christ Himself. :-)

I saw some guy on a freak show do it. He was on TV.

Not me. But I'm pretty sure many pastors in our church know the Bible from cover to cover.
-
Sure, I think even some have memorized it in Klingon.

Back before the New Testament, children took to memorizing the Bible and the ones who kept at it memorized the whole thing when they were adults. People grew up memorizing things differently than we do now though. Back in those times, news people would travel around to families, singing a 5-15 minute long (approx) song with all of the news. It never had to be repeated and the families who heard it memorized it the first time around.

I haven't memorized the bible but I have got a good third of the Koran memorized.

I bet it's not as common as people claim. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's been done at least twice.
-
it's been done. I could never imagine doing it though.
-
I find that unlikely.

The nameless and unknown people in history have memorized the bible. However, they're aren't just famous like celebrities.
-
Didnt Jesus do that?

As far as anyone today I know of only one that has memorized the entire Bible or close to it and that's Jack VanImpe. There could be others but I'm not aware of them.
