I don't know why, but all music software seems to have many upgrades, which I agree -- they're annoying -- they should just autoupdate, like microsoft windows does. Probably each update introduces a new bug, it's a vicious cycle. I used winamp for years -- after AOL bought winamp, I tried MediaMonkey -- I think mediamonkey has the best music library manager, and I used both for awhile. Now I'm switching to songbird. Songbird is not for everybody. Songbird can automatically load play lists from webpages, and you can then download (responsibly of course!). You can also subscribe to music blogs, and download them in the background while you're listening to something else. This is great for loading the music player. Songbird is opensource, based on common code with Mozilla (which makes firefox). http://www.songbirdnest.com/ I'm also using windows media player a lot; I like the firefox plug-in a lot.

I used Winamp for years. After AOL bought Winamp, I started using ITunes and am happy with it (updates are disabled). I am going to try Songbird when it gets out of Beta, as it is suppose to work with Windows, Mac & Linux.
