  • All babies are ugly when born even my three were. Full of blood and snot etc.
  • I'd lie, and probably say something like "she looks like her mom" and then spend the rest of the night laughing to myself :-) yeah I know... bad rince :-p
  • I always say all babies look like winston Churchill, if they look terribly annoyed I add, no doubt this one will turn out to be as great as he was (don't mention his manic depression or alcholic problems)
  • Lie, of course. No need to cause dissent among family members.
  • No, I wouldn't lie, but I'd avoid any comment at all about the baby's looks. I'd say something about how cute his/her outfit was or something. No one wants to hear their baby is ugly - to the parents that baby is the most beautiful in the universe.
  • I'd tell the truth. I'm sarcastic so often, people assume that if I say something they don't like, I'm joking. Also, I have this thing against babies because they're good for nothing ne'er do wells that just sit around expecting everyone to do everything for them. If they have a problem, they just scream at the top of their lungs and expect you to know what's wrong.
  • I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings and would tell a little white lie. I wouldn't say the baby was gorgeous if they weren't but I'd say they look fine and healthy or something like that.
  • I lie to them but as soon as they look away make faces and try to humor the staff, or other family about it. poor kid cant do anything about the way they look but all you can do is make all the joy around them you can and they may be the beautifull swan were all waiting to be seen as.
  • baby is angel given by god.if he is ugly god has made him!
  • I wouldn't say anything but I'd always wear my sunglasses when around the critter. Eventually, they'd get it without me having to say it
  • I have no poker face. They would know right away. That's partly why my friends don't show me their new girlfriends or babies anymore, if they know they aren't as cute as socially acceptable or atleast in my eye.
  • LIE, lets not hurt the parents.
  • us words like "awww" and "ooooo" Sometimes it isnt really necessary to tell or not tell. Did they come right out and say "do you think my baby is cute or ugly?" I am assuming not. Us other words like sweet, aware, precious, look at the little feet and hands. There are ways to do it without lying.
  • well you'd lie... no need to make trouble where there isnt none ..maybe the baby thinks your ugly aswell lol
  • there is no such thing as an ugly baby in my opinion!
  • I think we all have to admit that some babies are cuter than others.......not necessarily making the other babies "ugly". But, handling it diplomatically, I've used lines like: he/she has your eyes....how old is he/she now....I bet he/she is a really good baby, etc.
  • If the baby is ugly I would lie of course, and say he or she was cute even if inwardly retching. It is okay to insult a friend's looks, but not a member of their family, especially their new-born child. I wouldn't after meeting someone's Mum for the first time turn round and say "Gaawd she's ugly ain't she?" so why do it with their kid?
  • Lie,lie, lie...maybe even go the extra mile and add in why...
  • LIE!! We have friends that have a messed up looking baby...
  • Oh i could never tell the truth!!! lots of babies (including my own daughter) are not so pretty when they are born, up until a few weeks old even.. they eventually 'blossom'.... thank goodness!! :)
  • I lied too, the kid had a conehead & a face like a bulldog.......... I just couldnt bring myself to tell my brother the truth.
  • the rule is: every bride is lovely and every baby is beautiful no matter if it's true of not
  • If I could get away with it, I'd say nothing. If pushed, I'd lie.
  • What a great question... My advise is Don`t lie and Don`t remark. (that way you are not lieing). My aunt had an ugly baby, but she grew up beautiful. in all honestly most (new born) babies are ugly. and LOL only a mother can absolutely, incondionally love it.
  • i wouldnt lie and i wouldnt tell them You just dont make a remark about how it looks, say he/she is lovley or something insteadd. Then they can percieve that how they wish. It works everytime
  • its like the seinfeld episode with the hideous baby
