i can't answer the first question but enlightenment is understanding everything and having an inner piece about you and everything around you. thats wht i think anyway

"Enlightenment is simply just an in-depth understanding of something." No, one could have an in depth understanding of the theory of relativity and still not be enlightened. Enlightenment, as the Buddha made clear, is seeing things as they really are. No more, no less.
