Err ... what?

I think autism was linked to the mercury in the vaccine which does not get used anymore. It is thought that Autism is damage that is done to the left temporal lobe of the brain so it is very unlikely that a vaccine could cause this. When you weigh things up there are so many diseases that a child could get that could potentially kill them if they are not vaccinated against them so trying to save them from one thing and then leaving the window open for so many other terrible things, doesnt make sense to me. Thats just my personal opinion though. I know these decisions are so hard when all you want is the best for your precious little bub :)

Studies subsequent to the one that linked autism and the MMR vaccine has been unable to prove any link between the two. http://www.cdc.gov/od/science/iso/concerns/mmr_autism_factsheet.htm

I am for the vacs to be honest, I did consider having my daughters mmr privately and seperate but there has been plenty of research on the mmr vac and no so much on the individual vacs....if you dont have them you are putting your baby at risk from measles etc and measles can be extremely bad. Having said all that my daughter developed meningicoccal meningitis at 5 months old and she was admitted into hospital 4 days after receiving her meningitis vac, coincidence??? or more to it??? something I will never know!!!

I think vaccinating children is a good idea. We are 9 kids in our family, and we all got vaccinated. I have two children and we got both of them vaccinated. So far we are all healthy.

The whole thing proved to be a complete false alarm. One very small study was exaggerated on the back of a lot of plausible but completely anecdotal stories. A large number of large scale studies have completely failed to validate the effect. Even if you believe the original story, you should still have the MMR vaccine because measles kills ten times as many children as, allegedly, the vaccine makes autistic. So by not going for the MMR, you are saying that you would rather have ten dead children than one autistic one - which does not make sense to me.
