"Laughing gas",or nitrous oxide, was used for knocking out dental patients back in the 50s when I was a little kid.

Nitrous oxide is used in cars for speed boost ( illegally ) . It is called "nitro" when referred to cars and it is symbolized by N2O

Laughing gas -- when you inhale it, it induces a condition called "nitrogen narcosis" that gets you high. It's the same stuff they give you in the dentist's office.
