  • OK...if nothing is something does that mean that something is nothing??? :}
  • No, I don't think so. If I say I've nothing to say, does it mean I have something to say?
  • Yes. nothing is a word.
  • Not really, 90% of everything is actually nothing. We are all made up of atoms, racing around so that they seem to be something, but even the very atoms are mostly nothing.
  • a) The concept of pure Nothingness is unfathomable to humans, or at least the ones I Know. :p b) The Idea of nothing is pure non-existence. (see 'a') c) 'Something' is a definite recognition of an object or idea. d) 'Nothing' is an Idea. So, the Idea of 'Nothing' is in fact 'something.' e) Actual 'nothingness' is the absence of everything, which is not 'something.' f) So, 'Nothing' Can sometimes be 'Something.' But is still 'Nothing.' Depends on what you mean by 'nothing.' :p mind games! yay!
  • Where do you buy your weed? lol jk
  • Nothing is something in that by being a lack of something it is something. If it exists, even as an idea, it's something. Even if that something is nothing. Concepts, such as nothing, are something, because we've come up with the concept, meaning it must be something. Otherwise we couldn't come up with it. Isn't that something?
  • Let's apply this in the sense of choices. Is refusing to choose, in and of itself making a choice? Of course it is, you are choosing to abstain from making a choice. Following this logic, the nonexistence of something is in fact it's existence of nothing. Nothing is as definite an object as something is.
  • Yes, no problem is a good thing. Nothing in terms of problems is something in terms of feeling good.
  • Many questions were asked in the ancient Hindu texts about the nature of Parama Atama (infinite soul, or Almighty) and Atma (soul). In the olden days, Gurus used to put these questions to disciples to test their knowledge. What is the constituent material of Almighty? All created materials are subject to decay and annihilation, Almighty is above the influence of decay and annihilation. He is eternal. Then is Almighty a void? In terms of material characteristics, Almighty is void (Soonya). Can this lead to the logic that Almighty is not there? No. Almighty is there. He is consciousness, the infinite consciousness. The Atma which is a finite piece of Almighty, according to Advaita Vedanta - the personal consciousness. Soul was created in the likeness of the Infinite Soul. Since Atma is only a minute piece of Almighty, is it subjected to annihilation? No. Atma is also eternal.
  • nothing is something. think of money. it is made out of thin air (nothing) and given value (something).
  • one one side, i think nothing must be something to have been given a name. on the other side, there are so many things that have been given names without ever being prooved to exist. i guess im stumped!
  • No. If 'nothing' exists then 'something' cannot co-exist because 'nothing' is the absence of 'something'. If 'something' exists then there cannot be 'nothing' co-existing because 'something' implies an exisitance of somthing. The two conditions of 'nothing' and 'somthing' are distinct and mutally exclusive. Therefore, the universe has a complete lack of 'nothing' impling that 'something' exists. If 'something' exists then it must be all there is so 'something' is 'everything'. The universe has 'everything' that exists, past, current, and future. There cannot be any other possibilities such as paralell universes, alternate unviverses, multi-verses, the Martix, etc, because the universe by definition is all that exists.
