You friend something on your laptop. If you take it to a repair shop that does board level repair they might be able to help you out. But that's a lot of juice to put into a laptop. At the very least you can get an external hard drive caddy and hopefully get your data.
Yeah, hmmm, most laptops have an input of between 7 and 14 volts. Those extra 40 some volts were probably a bad idea. I'm guessing that the power converter inside that laptop is crying right about now.
Take it into a repair shop -- the system might be dead, the HDD could could be dead, or maybe just a cable or connector is damaged. I am sort of surprised that a 48V system would have a connector that could accidentally be plugged into a laptop.
Hope this story has a happy ending... I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I was about to download a video on my Toshiba laptop when my computer shutdown. I need to update my driver. How should I do this?

My power supply stopped working after I tried to scan with my new color laser printer on. Both heavy power users. I checked and am sure the PSU is bad. I installed a new PSU and everything powers up but I can't get a picture. Tried resetting the BIOS.

I plugged my computer into a station that was running 230v power. It will no longer turn on of course. I would like to know what will need to be replaced to repair it. I was thinking it would be the whole power supply, am I correct?

You're reading My son recently accidently plugged a 48v cisco systems server adapter into my laptop. Now the laptop will not boot. The power light comes on and the HDD light comes on (but solid), but the HDD does not spin nor do any fans run. Is the laptop fried?
