Question

Help answer this question below.

If a batter hits the ball, lets say all the way into the outfield near one of the corners, and due to multiple errors, is able to run home. Is this considered a "home run" and is it recorded as such in the player's HR record?

If there was an error on the play, the batter would get credit for a hit, most likely a double or even a triple BUT wouldn't get credit for a home run.

If the ball went into the corner and got away from the fielder and the official scorer didn't think there was an error, then the batter would get credit for an inside the park home run.

He'd be awarded whatever base the score keeper felt he'd recieve had there been zero errors, if the throw was to third and he would clearly be out at third but the throw was the error, then he'd be awarded a double and a 2 base error.. or a triple if he could make it to third unchallenged

All the other answers here are correct, but I just wanted to add that if one of the errors on the play is a missed CATCH on the fly ball then the batter would NOT be awarded even a hit, let alone get credit for a home run... as jfl1282 said, "He'd be awarded whatever base the score keeper felt he'd recieve had there been zero errors", so if the ball should have been caught in the scorekeeper's opinion then he would not get credit for the hit or any runs batted in on the play, although obviously the run would still count!

no it is not recorded as a home run. It would most likely be a double and a 2 base error, or if he was a real speedster, the official recorder may give him a triple and a 1 base error. excellent question.
