Why do stars affect us if they are neither living and we are having a population burst on Earth?

There is only one star that affects us. The sun at the center of the solar system affects us greatly. All the rest are just bright points in the darkness.

I agree with the previous answer but would add that certain events in the universe - such as massive gamma ray bursts would have a profound effect on living things on this planet - if near enough they would cause the extinction of all life. However, in general stars other than the sun have no effect on living things. The same can be said for planets. If you are thinking about Astrology, Horosopes etc then this is either a) an entertaining fiction or b) a totally misguided belief depending on how seriously you take it. It is not founded in any sense of reality, there is no evidence for it and there is absolutely no correlation between personality or character traits and the movement or position of the planets.
