Is the genre Christian rock defined by the style of the musical tune or the lyrical content?

i think honestly it is defined by the artist. growing up my parents didnt let me listen to any music other than christian, but i found that even in the christian genre there was music that wasnt really about "God" things, i mean yes, they didnt swear, but there were still songs about boys being in love with girls, people fighting with people, the troubles in life etc. however, i do know that most christian music does have a "tune" to it, and a lot of people can quickly identify that it is christian music that they are listening to. so basically i may not have helped you. sorry.

It's mainly defined by lyrical content, but I can usually tell christian music by the tune if i can't hear the words. All of the songs seem to sound really similar.
