Religion impacts my morals and values. Morals and values impact my vote. So, in a round a bout way, yes it does.

I would prefer to vote for someone without religious affiliation of any kind.Or at the least one that never mentions their religion.So the lack of religion does impact my vote and gets my attention.

I agree with "Formers..." answer. Religion has a hand in my moral beliefs and my values. If I don't see the politician posessing these same or close enough to these morals and views I will not vote for them. Kind of like picking a partner. Gotta want the same things.
