Because the earlier levels are not real achievements. Would you congratulate a world 11 in beating a local side? NO!
-
that's a loaded question ... perhaps there is a sordid history betwixt the 2 persons. maybe they didn't get the memo and are as yet uninformed. possibly the person does not place great faith in the ranking system

Yeah Warden, I made it to twelve - thanks for the congrats. 12 = 3, represented by laughing and having fun. It's a social number, radiating joy and expressing oneself. So thank you slothmister for clearing up for me that it is such a minor achievement, and for "guiding" me to the proper way to offer up a left handed compliment and discounting the accomplishments of others. Previously, I had learned that Internet etiquette referred to this sort of action as "hijacking a thread" but what do *I* know, other than when using a possessive such as when you wrote:A world 11 is a team picked by an expert which basically has all the worlds best players in it." it should have been written 'world's.'

I think as more ABers are joining the higher ranks, it takes more effort to get to each ranking. I see nothing wrong with congratulating ABers for any achievement. And if an ABer is popular, another will notice and post a congratulatory question. There is no competition on AB, as far as I know. Many of us are here for fun as well as for knowledge. So keep up the great ABing and I'm looking forward to your next increase in rank:-)

@EdTHJG, we jetpack around a lake 2 miles everyday. I have a philosophy of only jetpacking my dogs on days I intend to feed them. ; > @Warden - I know what you mean. I've got only a short way to go before level 13 already!

Not sure at all! I've seen some pompous and arrogant types that indicate unless someone is of a certain AB rank they don't deserve any congratulation, which I find to be total HORSESHIT!!! Someone right this moment might well be joining for the first time right now, and perhaps they have the potential to become the greatest AnswerBagger this site has ever known. And one small act of encouragement such as a congratulatory question in their honor, might well be the difference between them wanting to stick around and feel welcome and wanted for their contributions as opposed to just thinking that no one gives a damn what they might offer. I've felt strongly about this in many ways. I'll now get off my soapbox and accept the judgment of the masses. Rant adjourned.

Relevance or significance - it's not exactly life changing - or if it is, "get a life".

Beautiful Question. Not a clue I guess some people think they are just holier than thou.!
-
Because it's their right! It's not against the rules.
