Do you think certain pain medications cause hair loss & bone weakness? I have a female friend whose experiencing severe hair loss at age 36 after taking strong pain meds.

    oh yes they can and do ...its a more common side effect than you think and it hits females equally as it hits males , but most of the time once you stop taking the med's things start to get back to normal ... but she should still go back and see her doc's to find out more and to help put her mind at ease

    Yes they can. My husband was on heavy antibiotics last year for pnuemonia. He woke every morning with more tan normal amounts of hair on his pillow. From one or two to about twenty or thirty a day. Yes he made me count them!
